OUR STORY

It all started with some informal dog training in 2010 which turned into a viable side hustle for the following 3 years. Then in 2013 Jack and Ashley Lelwica started Prairie Peak Kennels just north of Alexandria, Minnesota. Prairie Peak’s vision focused on helping dogs attain an active, social, obedient, and content lifestyle. Prairie Peak has been successful in their mission and as the business grew they expanded to Fargo and built "Prairie Peak" in south Fargo which is another indoor/outdoor dog care facility unlike any other in the area. After Prairie Peak won 3 years in a row In-Forums "Best dog boarding and grooming facility" in Fargo, they decided to be all in for life "doing dogs" as they commonly say it. "Doing life and doing dogs" . So in 2022 PPK began building a new facility in a central location around the wonderful town of Battle Lake where many of the Prairie Peak employees and families live and do life. The Prairie Peak team loves to reach out into the community, serve dogs in any way possible, and love them and their owners in the process.

I could not be happier with our pup from the Tali and Buster litter fall of 2023. She is fantastic with the family, other dogs, and new people. She is a very quick learn and her natural ability is fantastic. She was pointing birds in the ND prairie at 11 months old like she had been doing it for a few years already, and continues to grow in her hunting ability. The natural instinct and intense prey drive makes training very enjoyable. Thank you Jack for turning me on to this breed and for all your expertise!!

We've been bringing our two dogs to Prairie Peak for grooming since they opened, and we couldn't be happier. In the 10 years we've had dogs that need grooming, this is the best service we've ever received. Our large Golden Retriever always looks fantastic after each visit, and it's clear he's well cared for by the friendly staff. Our small dog can be a handful when it comes to nail trims, but the team is incredibly patient with him. Their online portal also makes booking appointments quick and easy. Highly recommend!

I’ve boarded my dogs here many times it is very clean and staff are friendly and attentive
Lately I had my dogs groomed here and they did a good job
I have had horrible luck elsewhere with grooming in the lakes area one woman who called herself a groomer in Ottertail butchered my dogs it was nightmare
There’s a large kennel outside of Fergus Falls that did a very poor job but it wasn’t so bad that after a month or so it grew out and looked halfway decent
I recommend this kennel but like with many groomers in my experience it’s always better to have a picture of your dog with a grooming you liked in the past to show them

Best place EVER!!! Autumn, our Fox Red Labs thinks the place belongs to her. The staff is SO FRIENDLY and the best of the best!! Lily does training and she is so wonderful! Can't say enough about this fabulous Kennel!

We just had Juniper, our female Springer Spaniel, groomed at their new facility in Battle Lake. Kayla our groomer did an amazing job with her cut and she's ready for hunting this fall! Kayla is an excellent handler, and took the time to listen to how I wanted to make her "field ready" and yet still looking great! We Highly recommend all of their services!
